Wang Shumei meets with president of ICC International Court of Arbitration

On Jan 24, Wang Shumei, standing member of the Supreme People's Court (SPC)'s adjudication committee (vice-minister level), received a delegation headed by Claudia Solomon, president of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), at the SPC headquarters in Beijing.

Wang welcomed the group on their visit. Noting that arbitration is one of the important and internationally recognized ways to solve disputes, Wang said that China's SPC has always attached great importance to and actively promoted the development of international arbitration to facilitate its cross-border application. The visit of the delegation is of great significance in promoting communication and exchanges between judges and arbitrators and promoting the development of China's international arbitration, she said. Wang also briefed the delegation about China's judicial practice and important cases in the review of international arbitration, as well as the latest progress of China's "one-stop" diversified dispute resolution platform for international commercial matters.

Salomon thanked Wang for the meeting. She introduced the relevant information of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, and hoped to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China's SPC to jointly foster an arbitration-friendly legal environment.
