Zhang Jun visits Vietnam to strengthen judicial cooperation

Zhang Jun, president of China's Supreme People's Court, led a delegation to visit Vietnam between Oct 17 and 20 at the invitation of Le Minh Tri, president of the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam.

During the visit, Zhang held separate talks with Le and Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam Nguyen Huy Tien. He also had separate meetings with To Lam, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, Tran Thanh Man, chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, and Nguyen Hoa Binh, executive deputy prime minister of Vietnam.

Highlighting the similarities between China and Vietnam as socialist countries led by Communist parties with similar political systems and beliefs, as well as shared future and interests, Zhang lauded the positive development momentum in bilateral relations over the past years.

He gave an overview of the work of Chinese courts in serving the overall development of the country and administering justice for the people by upholding the Party leadership, adopting the people-centered approach and adhering to the path of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics.

Zhang expressed the hope that both sides would enhance judicial cooperation to provide legal safeguards for bilateral cooperation in various fields, making positive contributions to consolidating the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam.

To commended the longstanding relationship between Vietnam and China, emphasizing the contributions of both countries to regional and global stability as well as the global socialist movements.

Recognizing the common goals and problems faced by both socialist nations in their judicial systems, To stressed the need to deepen judicial cooperation, share experiences and address new challenges emerging from areas such as digital transformation, international trade, environmental protection and transnational crime.

Zhang briefed Tran and Nguyen Hoa Binh about the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and introduced China's practices in areas of mutual interest such as digital court development, diversified resolution of international commercial disputes, and adjudication of environment and resources related cases during the meetings.

He underscored the need for both sides to further deepen exchanges and mutual learning to provide strong judicial services for the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and contribute to the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.

In talks with Le and Nguyen Huy Tien, Zhang reviewed the friendly exchanges and cooperation achievements between the judicial authorities of the two countries in recent years, and introduced the practice of Chinese courts in continuously deepening judicial reform.

He expressed the hope that both sides would strengthen experience sharing and personnel exchanges in the fields of judicial reform, information technology application in the judicial fields, resolution of international commercial disputes and corporate bankruptcy.

Zhang also visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the People's Court of Ninh Binh Province in Vietnam.
