Hainan achieves 1st use of 430 medications & devices in China
According to the Hainan Medical Products Administration, Hainan continues to benefit from the province’s unique medicine and medical device licensing policies, which by the end of August, 2024 had resulted in the 1st use nationwide of 430 specially licensed medications and devices, benefiting over 70,000 patients. Fifty-four of these were newly added this year.

Hainan has also accelerated the launch of sixteen international innovative medications and medical devices by conducting real world studies within the province, including three in 2024.
In order to optimize supervision of the R&D & approval process, Hainan has implemented a number of innovative support measures. The current average time required for medication and medication device supervisory procedures has been reduced by 50% compared to previous years.
In addition, Hainan has further professionalized medication and medical device inspection, review, and testing procedures, completed a pilot program for managing traceability of medication sales and use, and improved the coverage of the medication regulatory network.
