As the sun set on December 8, 30 light boxes on the sea-view trail next to the Century Bridge slowly lit up, tourists and locals flock to visit a photo exhibition commemorating the 120th anniversary of the establishment of the Haikou Chamber of Commerce at the Haikou Century Park Seaview Trail.

Born 1904 under the name of "Haikou Chamber of Commerce,” the Haikou Federation of Industry and Commerce was officially established in 1953. With 120 years of helping Hainan's economy achieve leapfrog development, today’s Haikou Federation of Industry and Commerce is a weathervane for the construction of the free trade port. As private enterprises surf the wind and waves of modernization, the city now boasts over 2.6 million private business entities. With 80% of the city's high-tech enterprises being private businesses, the private economy has become an important force in promoting Haikou's economic and social development.

The photos in this themed exhibition reflect the developmental achievements of Haikou's industrial and commercial system over the past century. Through these precious historical moments, members of the public can see the struggle and achievements of Haikou’s businessmen.

The exhibition will run from December 8, 2024 to January 8, 2025.
