Expo 2025 Osaka will be held from April 13 to October 13, 2025. From May 23 to 25, the China Pavilion at the Expo will play host to Hainan Week, featuring a variety of activities like business promotions and cultural performances to showcase the achievements of the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP).

The opening ceremony is scheduled for the morning of May 23 at the China Pavilion on Yumeshima Island in the Japanese metropolis, Osaka. A series of promotional events will be held during Hainan Week, including a Hainan FTP business matchmaking event in Tokyo on May 22, followed by two sessions on the afternoon of May 23—one in Osaka for promotional activities of the Hainan FTP and another in Hyogo Prefecture titled the “Hainan–Hyogo Economic and Trade Dialogue.”

Hainan’s business delegation to the Expo includes representatives from nearly 40 enterprises across sectors such as pharmaceuticals, jewelry, healthcare, and smart agriculture. A selection of prominent brands representing Hainan’s emerging industries will also be showcased at the China Pavilion. During Hainan Week, Hainan-themed souvenirs will also be distributed to visitors, offering a tangible glimpse into the province’s unique culture and key industries.

In addition, cultural heritage inheritors from Hainan will travel to Osaka during the event to showcase intangible cultural heritage, such as Li brocade weaving, dyeing, embroidery, and clay pottery techniques.

According to the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Hainan Provincial Committee (CCPIT-Hainan), Japanese enterprises have already established a presence in the island province in sectors such as healthcare, cultural tourism, and modern agriculture. Hainan Week at the Expo 2025 Osaka is expected to further deepen global awareness of Hainan and foster international cooperation in trade, technology, culture, and tourism.
